Serving one another, showing compassion, giving generously to the poor and being mindful of the needs of others is a biblical assignment we take very seriously at Community Christian Church. James 1:27a says, “external religious worship that is pure and unblemished in the sight of God the Father is to visit, help and care for orphans and widows in their affliction and need.” (Amplified Bible) Through the ministry of Community Hands we reach out in a practical way to financially bless and demonstrate the love of Christ to members of our church, the surrounding community through these programs:
Food Pantry
At CCC, we know that ministry is both spiritual and practical. We enjoy the opportunities that we have to provide for the tangible needs of those around us. As a result, we have implemented a successful Food Pantry ministry that seeks to provide food and household staples to those in our community who are in need. Staffed with a passionate team of volunteers, we maintain a stocked pantry to care for many families who may be without work or income for the time being. Meeting practical needs with respect and the love of God is the cornerstone of this great ministry. We hope to be able to bless people during the storms of life, and convey a heartfelt message that they are not alone — we will walk with them during this time and relieve some of the burden they carry.
Hospital Visitation
When the sick are in need, the church should be positioned to assist them. CCC maintains a strong team of ministers who are ready and waiting to visit the infirmed in the hospital or at home. Whether that means a friendly face, an earnest prayer or just some fellowship, our ministers sincerely hope to convey a caring attitude to those who are under a doctor’s care. We believe in the healing power of Jesus’ name, and regularly lift up those who are ailing for a touch from the Lord.
Household Cleaning & Repair
The Bible teaches us to care for the widows and orphans all around us (James 1:27). The handymen of our church enjoy using their practical skill to bless those who otherwise could not repair items in their homes. When necessary, household cleaning is offered to single moms, widows or the infirmed when they might not be able to do so themselves. The intent is to be the hands and feet of Jesus, to show the love of God with kind works. Sometimes these areas of support are precisely what is needed during the difficult times of life.
